Shield Azure, two roosters of Barcelos respectant Or, combed and armed Gules, in base a fountain Argent pouring water of the same. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "GALEGOS - STA. MARIA".
Meaning:
Although these two words, "galego" (= "Galician") and "galo" (= "rooster") have very different etyms, they are unavoidingly similar and prone to be subjected to folk etymology. Look here for more details.
